Pass Thurn by VAYA

The friendly staff do their best to make your stay pleasant, and there’s a simple bar for a drink before or after dinner. The food is good, though the menu doesn’t change much from day to day. At New Year’s Eve dinner it was a bit disappointing, and the atmosphere felt too quiet. They also charge €4 per litre for tap water in the evening, which I really think should be free. The hotel is clean and decent, with a wellness area that has two nice saunas and a hammam. It’s within walking distance of a chairlift in Mittersill, part of the Kitzski ski resort. A good fit if you’ll be out skiing during the day, but not if you’re looking to spend much time indoors.

The hotel was spotless throughout, and the food was both plentiful and delicious. Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s a little remote, though a fairly frequent bus stops right outside.

The main drawback is getting around the ski area. Although a ski lift is within walking distance, the hotel’s outlying location can make travel around the slopes take a while, and the ski buses can be unreliable. The rooms are spacious and clean, with the basics provided, and the bathroom and shower felt more up to date than the rest of the room. There’s heated storage for skis and boots, parking in front, and a decent wellness area. Service in the restaurant and bar was good. The food isn’t the best you’ll ever have, but it wasn’t bad, and for the price I thought it was very good value.

The staff were genuinely kind and helpful, and the manager deserves a special thank you for his hospitality and for working so hard to make everyone’s stay pleasant. Our rooms were clean and spacious, and the meals were healthy, tasty, and varied. We stayed at Hotel Pass Thurn for a midweek snowboarding trip, and it was easily our best hotel experience in a ski area. Such a pleasure to be there 🫶🏽.
