We arranged an overnight stay for our family, two adults and two children, with the owner by phone for €110. Shortly afterwards, she called back to say it would be €140 because she’d forgotten to include the cleaning fee. When we left the next day, she demanded €170, saying she’d had to put extra bedding on the rickety sofa bed for the children, aged 5 and 3. There was no overnight stay form, of course. She complained brazenly about the €170 and wouldn’t agree to a fair compromise, even though she had failed to tell us the right price the first time. The apartment also had ants in the kitchen and cobwebs.

This lovely farmhouse is run by the Sommer family with so much heart, love, and hospitality. Their warmth is something we’re always happy to experience. We’ve stayed here several times, booked every apartment, and enjoyed each one in its own way. This time, breakfast was included, and in the evenings an excellent chef prepared all sorts of Burgenland delicacies and served them with wit and charm. It was wonderful again, and every visit feels like coming home!

The website pictures look exactly like the real place. It’s a little gem in Mörbisch, with three holiday apartments for two people each and a charming courtyard. The Katzenstiege apartment has its own balcony. The elderly couple who run the place give guests a warm welcome, including at the adjoining restaurant, where you can try a variety of regional delicacies.

We had a few wonderful days at this small, charming, intimate place on Lake Neusiedl. I’d especially recommend the wine tasting in the shop. We even ordered more wine to take home.
