Hotel Schloss Fernsteinsee

The hotel itself is great, but the Indian boy in the restaurant was very rude to everyone. He was arrogant and demanding, and he never checked whether we had the napkins and silverware we asked for. We had to ask, and he was extremely rude. He shouldn’t be working there.

Our bartender and waitress was attentive, helpful, and kind, and made our time eating and drinking great. Five stars for her. I accidentally booked for two people instead of three, then was charged for the third person, which was a bit hard to understand since we stayed in the same room, though it wasn’t a lot. What upset me most was that breakfast had been included in my booking, but was taken away when I added a person. That seemed very wrong, and I believe I should be refunded.

The upper rooms were once part of the fortress that guarded the pass, and the view from up there is gorgeous. Getting to them means climbing 120 steps from the restaurant, but that gives you plenty of time to let your imagination wander. This is a real castle dating back to the 14th century, not an awkward imitation. So no, everything isn’t new, and getting there isn’t easy. It’s an actual castle.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and ready to go the extra mile, with excellent service throughout. We also enjoyed the restaurant: delicious meals made with fresh, local ingredients, and a relaxed dining atmosphere. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated, mixing modern amenities with classic charm. Waking up to Fernsteinsee was a real treat. Hotel Schloss Fernsteinsee Naturresort sits in a stunning natural setting, with breathtaking views and a peaceful feel. There’s plenty to do, from exploring the surroundings to swimming in the crystal-clear lake, and it was easy to unwind and recharge here. It’s a gem, whether you’re after a romantic break, a family vacation, or a solo retreat. Highly recommended.
