Beauty & Wellness Hotel Tirolerhof

There was far too much to see and do in the three-country area for us to fit it all in, so we'll be back. At Tirolerhof in Nauders, we enjoyed spacious rooms, a luxurious pool and sauna, and excellent food. The staff gave us a lovely mix of professional service and a warm, almost family-like feel. We only wished we'd packed Blanca in our suitcase for the trip home.

Our stay was a nightmare, and my wife and I could only laugh about it afterward. We've stayed in plenty of four- and five-star hotels, and this one didn't feel remotely like them. Check-in and check-out dragged on, and reception staff were rude. The room was small and overpriced, old-fashioned rather than stylish, and the carpet smelled. The internet didn't work in the room, the TV had a fuzzy picture, the bathroom was outdated with weak water pressure, and the mattress was so old and soft that I couldn't sleep. We booked a queen-size bed but got two single beds pushed together. There was a strong chlorine smell on the ground and first floors from the pool, which might be dangerous for children or babies. Be careful. The spa closed at 7 pm and the restaurant at 8 pm. Staff wouldn't help us get food after 8, unlike the 24-hour room service I've had at other four- or five-star hotels. Luckily, we found a place to eat in the village. We wouldn't choose this hotel again. Seeing the reviews, I can't believe it. Just a guess, but maybe they bought them. I've stayed at Tirolerhof Nauders for the eighth time now, and everything was just right again. The room, breakfast and dinner, and the staff all deserve a big compliment. I'll definitely be back.

The only thing that stopped this from being very good was the charge for a liter of tap water beside our wine. We paid 3 euros, while a liter of tap water in Austria costs 0.01 euro. That's a 300% profit, which is a lot. I hope the hotel changes this.
