Haus Walter

It’s a lovely little guesthouse where you quickly feel like part of the family. They’re always accommodating with special requests, whether it’s a beer after a hike, eggs from their own chickens at breakfast, or games in the cozy living room.

The woman is friendly, nice, and accommodating, but I’d still tell Mrs. Walter to avoid booking this place. I paid €86 for a room with breakfast, at least €30 too much in my view. Apart from coffee, breakfast was poor. One soft-boiled egg I got was cold, and there was no ham, fresh sausage, juice, muesli, quark, yogurt, or oatmeal. She keeps saying, “Well, I can’t throw anything away.” Across the street, the hotel restaurant has excellent food and charges €76 for half-board. The room smelled of a cowshed and hay. Painters had just been there, so opening a window to air it out wasn’t an option because of the paint smell. She kept apologizing, but probably won’t refund you. She’s been ripped off and has a real agenda. It’s a complete disaster, awful, and absolutely not recommended. Don’t book it or stay there.

The rooms were clean, though the welcome wasn’t always very warm. Breakfast was a little sparse.

The people are nice and the service very good. You do need to book ahead.
