The food, service, rooms, spa, swimming pool, bar, and lounge areas were all top quality. It's a great family-run hotel, with staff who are very friendly and helpful.

The food was a real highlight. We chose our preferred main course each morning for dinner, and every meal was delicious, from the salad bar and starters to the soup or smoothie, main dish, and dessert. After skiing, the wellness area was a lovely place to unwind, with saunas, steam rooms, a Dampfbad, relaxation rooms, and juices, nuts, and tea. The pool was fantastic too. Getting to the slopes was easy. At certain times in the morning, a shuttle went straight from Hotel Gassner to the ski lift. If we missed it, we could walk 50 meters in ski boots to the bottom of a blue run and catch the regular bus, which ran every 10 minutes. We used that system throughout our stay and found it very efficient. In the evenings, there was live music in the bar, with accordion players, musicians, and singers. The hotel is close to the charming town, where we explored gift shops and enjoyed the lively après-ski scene. Neukirchen also puts on entertainment every Monday, adding to the atmosphere. From arrival, we felt welcomed like family. Hotel Gassner was a comfortable, relaxing stay with genuine hospitality. The staff went above and beyond, and we truly enjoyed our time here. We highly recommend it and can't wait to return.

The Nature rooms were spotless and so warm we had to turn the heating way down, even with -10C outside. The sauna area was a real treat as well. We had some amazing snowshoe walks during the week with Moni, who showed us forest trails in nearby valleys and arranged lunch stops at wonderful hidden alms. The standout was the exceptional Christmas dinner on 24th December. Sonja and the team made us feel so welcome for a wonderful Christmas stay. Thank you, we can thoroughly recommend staying here.

Our two kids loved the play area with its toys, and we appreciated the hotel's proximity to the Wildkogel Arena and the ski storage. Getting to the slopes was convenient, and we had a great time skiing as a family. The food was delicious, with a nice range of flavors, and the hotel had a warm welcome and paid attention to the details from the moment we arrived. The spa and swimming pool were a relaxing way to wind down after time in the mountains. We had a memorable stay at Hotel Gassner with our family.

The guided hikes were the main reason I booked this hotel, even though it was above my usual budget and a 15-hour drive away. I'd planned to stay Monday to Friday to join them, but the Friday walk was in the late afternoon after I had left. That left four options, then one was classed as difficult, so there were only three I could consider. On Monday, I joined the easier hike, but the guide walked fast and didn't really watch the group. During breaks, she explained things before the people at the back had arrived. The trail had places where one misstep could mean a 100-foot fall, so I couldn't really look at the scenery. On Tuesday, the guide changed the medium hike to a difficult one at the last minute. There was a transport issue, but I found it odd that she didn't switch to another medium route. Many hikes weren't suitable for people at a low or medium level, which was disappointing when guided walks were a key reason for choosing an expensive hotel. I don't understand why so many were high-level hikes, since experienced hikers who want difficult routes probably don't need a guide. Guides should pay attention to the whole group, make sure people at the back can hear, and keep a pace participants can manage. Not everyone hikes four or more times a week like the guide. Her negative, bigoted comments about tourists generally and “the Dutch” in particular also made me feel unwelcome. The hotel itself was great: very good food, friendly and helpful service, lots of comfortable places to sit, a nice sauna and relaxation area, a good bed, and free parking. It was close to the cable lift and many beautiful places. In September I also received a free Summerkarte with useful offers, including free cable car rides, a discount at Krimmler waterfalls, and free public transport. Despite the disappointment with the hikes, my stay was very comfortable. I would recommend the hotel, and although it cost more than I usually spend, I thought it was good value for money.
