We went because it had been recommended for something a bit different, and the kitchen really delivered. I can find traditional Austrian food quite heavy and salty, and I'm picky about what I eat, but I still enjoy trying something special at a traditional restaurant. This time I even had the full soup, salad, main course and dessert, which I don't usually do. The pumpkin soup had a distinctive flavor, and the seasonal mixed salad was fresh, though I couldn't tell if it came from their own garden. The venison steak was sumptuous, with a sauce that let the deer flavor come through, plus vegetables cooked al dente. I also found proper Apfelstrudel with apricot ice cream. My husband chose the House menu, which was very reasonably priced and included soup and parfait. He was delighted with the veal schnitzel. Highly recommended, but make a reservation.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, they made us feel at home. The place was spotless, and our room was really comfortable. Breakfast was a treat, with good quality cheese, homemade jam and fresh pastries. Their restaurant is the best in the area. It's also a fairly convenient base for two ski areas, about 30 minutes away by car.

We had a lovely time here, the kids and I. Family Lohr and all the staff made us feel welcome, and both breakfast and dinner were served with care. It's a simple place, but it had everything we needed: convenient, clean, and with ski-friendly amenities, including a heated room for storing equipment. We'd recommend it.
