The rooms feel like a mountain lodge and were clean and comfortable, though the furniture is dated and showing its age. The bathroom was small, with the toilet in a separate room. We mostly showered at the pool, so that wasn’t a major issue. Reception isn’t open around the clock, but there was always someone available to help, including with directions and laundry. We came skiing with our two kids, and the staff were wonderful, always smiling and happy to help. They even adjusted dinner menus for the children. “Simple yet satisfying” sums up the stay.

Everything else was fine, and the people were nice, but I wouldn’t stay here again. You can hear everything from the other rooms, and we had the bad luck of a baby crying all night. Nobody in the corridor could sleep. How are you meant to ski the next day with your kids after a night like that? It can ruin a vacation. I’d call it a fairly nice three star hotel, not a four star one.

The front desk person was very friendly and gave us a nice tour. Then we found brown water running from the shower in our first room, and felt too disgusted to use it. They moved us to a “nicer” room, but that shower wouldn’t drain and the drain was clogged with a disgusting amount of hair. Paying so much for two unclean rooms felt wrong. We got our stay refunded and had to find another hotel and dinner reservation at the last minute.

The meals were very good, the staff helpful, and the room Wi-Fi was fast. Parking was free, either in the lot beside the hotel or in its garage. The wellness area is just a pool and sauna, and there’s a shoe drying room in the basement. The room itself was a letdown for a four star hotel: it’s very old, the sink faucet was hard to turn on, and the mattress was badly sagging and uncomfortable.

We were lucky to spend New Year’s Eve here. There was a seven course dinner, then a band, and a buffet after midnight. The breakfast buffet was awesome, and the pool and sauna were great too. Service is superb, with a traditional, classy feel. The owners are still involved day to day and are amazing. Absolutely loved our stay.
