Haus Alpenrose

Obertraun felt like a better place to stay than Hallstatt if you want a more local feel. We spent a couple of nights at Haus Alpenrose, where Michael made us feel at ease even before we arrived. Check-in was smooth and the instructions were clear. Our room on the second floor was warm and cozy, with a pretty balcony, and there was a shared kitchen with coffee each morning and an oven for warming food. Michael was polite, helpful and accommodating when we chatted during the stay. We could also leave our luggage at the house after checkout until our departure.

The owner lives on site and was really friendly and welcoming. They also gave us useful tips on places to visit and which bus to catch. The view is incredible, and both the train and bus stations are very close. Hallstatt is only a short bus ride away. We had a wonderful stay and would gladly come back if we get the chance.

The location made getting around easy, with the train station nearby, a bus stop for Dachstein close by, restaurants a short walk away, and the lovely lake within reach. You can take a boat across that lake to Hallstatt. Angelika was so warm and welcoming that I felt more like I was visiting my aunt in the countryside than staying as a customer. The room was spotless, with a huge bed, a spacious bath and toilet, and hand towels. Breakfast was good, so have some before heading out. I came away with lovely memories 🥰

Such a peaceful, comfortable place. The owner was kind and helpful, and I'd really recommend staying here. 😄
