I expected more. The room is tiny, the bathroom stinks, and the shower is rotting.

The sports options were well balanced, and most people seemed happy with their activities. The hostel is also well equipped, though the facilities, including the gym, are showing their age. The room was okay for a youth hostel, but not hotel standard. The bathroom was basic, and the balcony looked only superficially cleaned, with lots of sand from the beach volleyball courts. There was plenty of wear and tear in the room, including on the floor and mats. I stayed here during a ski week five years ago, and the food’s poor quality stuck with me. I’d hoped it had improved, but while breakfast had a wide and plentiful selection, lunch and dinner were still disappointing. Quantity seemed to matter more than quality. Food was often bland, too salty, or overcooked. The spaghetti carbonara was the low point, with a stronger garlic taste than the garlic cream soup starter. For a “sports hostel,” the food was well below average and not very healthy. After some classmates left their dishes on the terrace the first evening, it stayed locked for the rest of the week. That was a shame because it had the best view at the hostel. There are better youth hostels in the Enns Valley, and this place could use renovation and a redesign.

We ended up spending the night in our campervan after checking the mattresses and blankets. The mattress springs had come loose, and there were very suspicious brown and white stains. They could only have been yam, but the items smelled suspicious too. Nobody asked us why we were leaving. The walls were smeared with graffiti, and the toilets and washrooms had been vandalized. I’m writing this to warn other people about going into this building.

When I went there with my school, we didn’t even get lunch, though the whole trip was very expensive. The rooms weren’t great either. Most beds were covered in mystery stains or completely wrecked, and the room was generally very dirty. I personally wouldn’t go back.
