La Cucina - Hotel & Restaurant

The service level felt a little low for the price, though the stay itself was clean and convenient. I'd check the details before booking, especially breakfast: they don't serve it on Sundays or public holidays, and there are very few alternatives in the village. When it is offered, it's à la carte and not cheap. The food was fine, but I expected better bread and a bit more choice for what it cost. Hotel La Cucina sits in a small, quiet village and works well for a night while passing through or going to the nearby Formula 1 race. My room and bathroom were clean, the balcony was spacious and pleasant for relaxing, and the parking area was tidy and easy to get into. I do wish the hotel had made the Sunday and holiday breakfast situation clear when booking.

Even with the restaurant fully booked, the service was great. The Mafioso pizza with pumpkin seed oil was a tasty mix of Italian and Styrian food. The kids' fish-shaped pizza came with sausages and fries. Maybe an Italian purist would have a heart attack, but the kids loved it.

The waitress was lovely and deserves credit, but the spaghetti bolognese was bland and pretty dry. The small mixed salad cost 5,10 euro, which felt expensive, and its dressing was too sour and vinegary.

I've always had a pleasant stay here. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished, and the staff are consistently friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves delicious Italian and Austrian food. I can only recommend it!
