Villa Seerose

We had a lovely holiday, and everything we needed was within walking distance from this simple, centrally located hotel. It was very quiet despite being in the village, and the small hotel was extremely clean. The owners deserve thanks. Staff were so friendly and always checked whether everything was okay or if we needed anything. They even changed the bed linens during our week. Our bungalow room was perfectly fine, though if you expect 5*, you have to pay more. Good value for money, simple but nice. Breakfast was fresh, with fruit, yogurt, jam, eggs, sausage, cheese, juice, good coffee, and fresh rolls. The fridge in the room wasn’t noisy. Parking can be a bit of a problem, but we were lucky and found free spaces in the village, a two-minute walk away. You don’t need a car at Lake Wörthersee, with buses, trains, boats, bikes, or walking all available.

I led a group and booked the hotel for us, but the staff were extremely unfriendly. On arrival, they insulted us as alcoholics and threatened to involve the police. The security guard intimidated us, and I felt threatened. Families or couples thinking of a holiday there should know: don’t make a sound in the hotel or have even one glass of alcohol on the beach, or you may be threatened with police action.

We booked as a group and paid a deposit, but were turned away. The reviewer said the staff were very unfriendly toward younger guests, including those aged 27, “due to past experiences.” I’ve never experienced anything like it, so this is a clearly negative review.

The owner said they’d try to refund us if the room could be rented again, but otherwise we’d be out of luck. We’d paid the full amount upfront, which was a first for us, and there’s no refund for leaving early, even in an emergency. They’re using COVID as an excuse 😡😡 The room wasn’t worth the price. The beds were uncomfortable, and being near the train station meant we could hear trains in the evening. With no air conditioning, it got too hot, and the refrigerator was so noisy we couldn’t sleep.
