Ferienhaus Tauernblick

You can park right outside, so there's no hauling suitcases far. The hosts and the fairly secluded setting go together perfectly, and we made frequent use of the sauna without any problems. In summer or winter, it's easy to spend ages on the terrace or balcony. The apartment has modern amenities but sits in a rural setting, with hosts who are easy to talk to. We recommend getting to know them: you'll hear a lot about the Rauris Valley and Austria, and even more if you join the schnapps tasting. ;)

The owners were so nice and helpful, and I'd gladly stay again. The place is modern and beautifully furnished, with a kitchen that has a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, egg cooker, toaster, and more. It's wonderfully quiet, with lots of snow and a huge garden just outside for sledding or making a snowman. The ski slope is only a few minutes away by car. I also loved catching sight of a cow and her calf mooing at me from the back window.

We found our next stay before we'd even left. Tauernblick really does mean Dream View. The Rauris Valley is beautiful, with mountains, snowfields, streams, alpine pastures, meadows, wildflowers, and forests. There are hikes from gentle walks to tough climbs, either from the house or a short drive away. The setting is wonderfully peaceful, up above the village and almost at the end of a little road, though still easy to reach. There was hardly any traffic or other disturbance. We stayed in the upper apartment and also got to see the lower one. Both are bright, cozy, and welcoming, with plenty of space and everything you could need. After more than 30 years of staying in all kinds of holiday apartments, I can say these really are special. The furnishings are thoughtful, the materials are high quality, and the style all fits together. The website and descriptions are accurate, too. Maria is incredibly dedicated and quick to answer if you have questions or requests. The sauna and relaxation area are lovely. There's always a good supply of towels and different sauna infusion oils. You can reach the sauna directly from the lower apartment, or use an outside staircase from the upper one, which was no problem at all. If Swiss pine pillows or homemade schnapps interest you, just ask Maria and Toni. They don't put any pressure on you. We're grateful we found this place and are already planning to return.

The sound of birds, crickets, and a river far down in the valley was about all we heard, since the house sits near the end of a quiet residential street. And the southwest view across the Rauris Valley to the Tauern mountains is enchanting. We could easily have spent the whole stay relaxing, especially on the south- and west-facing terrace, though the apartment was comfortable indoors too. Those landscape pictures on the walls are actually windows, and the postcard views are right there. Speechless... We came for a fantastic hiking holiday in the magnificent Rauris Valley, but the Pirchner family's place was just as memorable. The two apartments were recently renovated as part of a full house overhaul. The layout is excellent, and the modern furnishings are tasteful and incredibly complete. We've never stayed in such a beautiful, well-equipped holiday apartment. The bathroom is nicer than the one in our own home, and the sauna area is so lovely I almost hesitate to mention it, since Tauernblick may have no dates left. Nothing was spared in the renovation. Maria and Toni Pirchner were wonderful, anticipating what we needed and taking care of it. Little treats from Maria's kitchen showed how much they cared about our comfort, but they never intruded. We also loved the relaxed conversations and time spent with them. We'll definitely return to Tauernblick for more days there, and other people should discover this lovely apartment too.
