We had a very enjoyable stay at Hotel Grimming. The food was fantastic, the general service was excellent, and our dog was made to feel welcome. A special mention to Susann. Egon clearly cares about dogs and seems very experienced. Apart from one incident, we had a positive stay, but dog daycare was one of the main reasons we chose the hotel, so it left us disappointed. We had arranged to drop our dog off at a set time. On our first morning in Rauris we took a wrong turn and arrived about 19 minutes late, roughly four minutes past the 15-minute buffer the hotel had kindly arranged. We understand punctuality matters and accept that we were late. Still, the exchange felt unnecessarily harsh. We were repeatedly told we’d been inconsiderate and had little chance to explain. The tone made us uncomfortable, and our agreed pickup time was shortened. Schedules need to be respected, but the response felt disproportionate to the delay. We did truly enjoy the hotel overall.

Hotel Grimming was the most dog friendly place we’ve ever visited. We spent a week there with our two shepherds, and both we and the dogs were spoiled with the food. The staff were so friendly, and Egon’s dog sitting was excellent, even with our dogs being a bit difficult to manage. Rauris sits beautifully in the valley, and you can walk to either ski lift. There’s also a nice walk with your dog from the Hochalmbahn. We hope to come back.

After a full day skiing, the Grimming is a good place to get a proper meal. There’s a main restaurant for hotel guests and a smaller one for non-guests. The hotel itself is in a great spot for the ski school and the 900m gondola. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the breads, and our room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I’d recommend staying here and would come back.

A great place if you’re travelling with a dog, with a grooming parlour for those wet, muddy walks. The food was excellent and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. It’s also well placed for parking, shops, cafes, the bank and skiing. We’ll be back.
