The ponies were lovely, and the instructor was so nice that our daughter felt at ease. During our holiday in the neighboring town, she went riding several times, including in the outdoor arena and indoor riding hall. The trail rides were her favorite. Booking at short notice was no problem. Thanks so much for everything.

We found plenty to do in the mountains, with routes at different difficulty levels, and it was easy to unwind in such a quiet place. Families can enjoy the nearby alpine pastures, and the neighbors' kids are around to play with. Singles looking for peace and quiet will like it too. The hosts are super friendly and happy to accommodate breakfast requests. Our room and bed were clean and comfortable, though the bathroom interior is a little dated, in a charming way. Restaurants are 10-15 minutes away by car. We tried several, and all had delicious food and friendly service, with something for everyone. It felt like a real vacation. ❤️

Before heading out into the countryside, you need to take a riding lesson on site. The horses we met were friendly and dependable, which quickly put us at ease on rides through this beautiful area. At Nigglgut Riding Stables, horse welfare clearly comes first, and they carefully match each rider with a suitable horse. Riding instructor Laura is friendly and always up for a chat, and knows a lot about the particular needs of Icelandic horses. We'd love to return.
