Hotel Sonnhof

The staff deserve more than five stars. They did a great job and sorted out every request within minutes. The hotel's location and view are excellent, and the price can be quite reasonable for half board. If the issues don't bother you, it may still be worth staying. There are more cars than parking spaces, so it can be a first-come, first-served situation. You may have to squeeze in close to another car, or park elsewhere. With children around, I preferred the second option, since a child could hit a neighboring car with the door without a parent helping them in. The rooms feel let down by stained, worn sheets and towels, and black dirt comes off the flexible shower hose. The building is dated, especially the ground-floor corridor to the rooms. Construction next door is noisy enough to wake you, so no alarm is needed to make breakfast. The playground swing is missing because its strap broke. The playroom toys are very old and broken, including rather than removing them, they should clear them out. A wooden cupboard that used to be fixed to the wall now looks like it could fall over and needs to be secured immediately. It's a nice enough average hotel, particularly for the price, but those details are worth bearing in mind.

A good value place with a friendly, spacious, clean setup and flexible service. It's right by the downtown area for evening walks and shopping, yet only a few hundred metres from the ski lifts. The nearby slopes are long enough and less crowded, with good management and limited costs. There are also some nice spots to see around the area. A comfortable place to rest and recharge.

Sonnhof sits in a very peaceful spot, just right for a proper rest. We spent a long weekend there as a family and had a lovely time. Our room had its own bathroom and a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills. The staff were cheerful and helpful, and the food from the kitchen was delicious. There's plenty to do on site, with a pool, sauna, squash, regular and hybrid bikes, plus ski equipment. There are also walking and cycling routes nearby, and the hills are great for climbing. I'd recommend a visit, and next time we'll stay longer.

The staff were so lovely, worth four stars on their own. The facilities get two from me: my room was really worn out, the pool wasn't very nice, and the children's room had toys that looked about 20 years old, including some pretty scary dolls. The price is very cheap, but I expected a little more.
