I was curious enough to look the hotel up, even though my last stay was way back in 1984. The ratings are still at the top, just as my own experience from nearly 40 years ago would suggest. Keeping standards up for that long says a lot about the effort management puts into quality, which feels rare these days. Even if the management changed hands, it seems the transition was handled well. I can only hope Ried has kept the same cozy feel I remember.

I was taken ill during our trip when my cold developed into pneumonia, and the staff were very helpful about arranging a doctor. While I was stuck in my room, I had a wonderful view and enjoyed looking forward to chats with the lovely maid when my husband went on the excursions. We were on a package tour with plenty of trips, and I'd come back to try the holiday again without getting sick. The hotel itself is lovely and the food was reasonably priced. If you travel independently, a car would be useful unless you're comfortable walking to public transport.

My dad was staying there, so I stopped by to visit. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. They even let my son use the swimming pool.

The service was friendly, and they were even willing to take a colleague to the pharmacy for medical supplies after a skiing injury. The pool could use a better clean, though. There were signs of mold around the water drainage.
