Bluebirdmountain Hostel

The location at Blue Bird Mountain Hostel really struck me on my first visit. In winter it gets the longest hours of sunshine, with panoramic views far down the valley. The two hosts make you feel welcome straight away. They serve homemade treats and coffee prepared with care, and the food is excellent. They happily cater to special requests too. As vegetarians, we loved how varied and delicious the meals were. I also love the handmade hats, headbands, and slippers. They keep your ears warm! :-) There’s more going on here as well: the hosts run a snowboarding camp for ski touring enthusiasts, and a yoga camp that pairs time on the slopes with relaxation. I can wholeheartedly recommend this hostel. You’ll feel right at home.

I’m in the car on the way home, and already feeling sad to leave. Last week was fantastic, just like last year, when it felt like the perfect vacation. Chrissi and Waldi’s hostel is so cozy and lovely that I didn’t want to go. The mornings started with the smell of coffee and a delicious, varied breakfast at a lovingly set table, with fresh fruit salad and especially tasty chicken eggs. You’d even get a reminder that the bus was leaving in 15 minutes. The friendliest driver in the whole Zillertal valley took us to the valley station or train station, gave us tips for other ski resorts, and was happy when we made it onto the last bus in the evening, even after one too many beers. A big thumbs up to our bus driver from Gattererberg! Back at the hostel, that huge bathroom and hot shower were wonderful. The water was still hot even after the ninth shower. Amazing! We cooked at the hostel every evening, then relaxed in the kitchen, sometimes by ourselves and sometimes with other guests. Drinks were available to buy, which was handy. The rooms are lovingly furnished, and the beds are comfortable and cozy. We finished each day with a hot water bottle. The Bluebird team is happy to help if you need tips or have any concerns. I’m already looking forward to next year, and we booked before leaving. Thank you all so much!!!

I’ve just spent 10 wonderful days here, and felt comfortable and welcome the whole time. The lovingly furnished little farmhouse has spacious rooms and super-clean bathrooms. There’s room for no more than 10 guests, which makes the atmosphere cozy and relaxed. In the morning, the Bluebird team prepares fresh coffee in all kinds of varieties or tea, along with bread, rolls, and fresh fruit salad. They’re happy to accommodate special requests too. The cozy communal kitchen is a lovely place to cook and sit together. A huge terrace gives you space to relax and take in the incredible view. When I wanted some quiet, I could read a book or watch a good movie in the common areas; other times, I enjoyed interesting conversations with the team and other guests. Wi-Fi is available if you want to surf the internet back home from time to time. The team is always around for questions and tips, and staying here helped me get away from everyday life and unwind. I’ll definitely book again next year. The hostel is lovely, and the many different ski resorts in the area offer plenty of variety. Many thanks to the team.
