Schloß Aichberg

Excellent.

The quiet setting makes it feel a world away, though Hartberg is only a 15-minute drive. The castle stays pleasantly cool in summer, and the hosts are very accommodating. Breakfast was excellent, with everything we could want, right down to cutlery that suited the historic atmosphere. Wi-Fi is available and streaming worked well, even if the data rate seemed a little slow at first. We had booked a few nights at Aichberg Castle because we wanted to try somewhere different. I knew the reviews and still came away with my expectations exceeded. History is everywhere, in the rooms and outside. Maps, pictures, historical displays, and art installations all fit together, and it’s clear the owners have put their hearts into the place. We enjoyed the guided museum tour. I only wish we’d found the library sooner, since I would have happily spent an hour or two there.

After arranging it in advance and booking a room, we got a really informative tour from the castle’s owner. We’d love to return.

The facade’s color scheme is what makes this castle stand out. It’s impressive.
