Gästehaus Alpina

The apartment left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, despite being clean, bright and well organized. The owners' many rules seemed to take over the stay, and the price was above average. On arrival, our group of six, all over 60, got a serious lecture from the host about what we could and couldn't do, with a request that we pay close attention. It felt like being children again. The instructions kept coming: only people who booked breakfast could use the common room, no bringing our own drinks there, and slippers were required indoors. There were ski slope rules in the hallway, plus a room binder covering house and sauna rules, including how to use the sauna properly. Even emptying the apartment bins every day felt like an inspection. The steam room was out of order all week, although the sauna area otherwise had what we needed to relax after skiing. We were also given a different apartment from the one promised in writing, and the owner wouldn't compromise. Two of our grown children came to pick us up for dinner but weren't allowed inside; the owner said, "I don't want to see any other people in the house." Then we had to pay the remaining 70% in cash three days before leaving. Bank transfer wasn't allowed, and card payment would have cost an extra 3%. At 9 a.m. on departure day, the front door was slammed in our faces before we could say goodbye. We understand a house needs rules, but these should be reasonable. The owners came across as insecure with guests. We felt accommodated, but not at ease or welcome. If you have another option, I wouldn't book this apartment.

The Alps are lovely all on their own, with fresh air, snowy scenery and an almost fairytale feel. I'm happy I got to live and work here! ❤😍
