Dinner was a succession of delicious, interesting surprises from the chef: venison, a stuffed zucchini flower, salmon trout sashimi with buttermilk, crispy-skinned pike fish with apricot and savoury risotto, succulent lamb cutlets with pumpkin, then raspberries and chocolate. I also enjoyed a glass of natural wine, which always fascinates me. The restaurant and hotel absolutely delivered on their promise, with all-round service covering the kitchen, cellar, and accommodation. Our stay at the lake was a perfect break. The rooms, decor, service, comfort, and ambience were chic and elegant. On our second night we were upgraded and got to enjoy the plush Burgundy Rot suite. We felt very lucky. The lake views are beautiful, especially on a misty September morning. The lake entrance is opposite Weingut Georgium. A bus to and from St Veit an der Glan stops outside. A taxi from town to the hotel generally cost €30, and it was also a €30 ride to visit the castle at Hochosterwitz, which was great on a rainy Monday.

We’d gladly return. The service was very friendly, and the lakeside location worked perfectly for our excursions. Our family had three rooms for two nights at the Georgium. Each was clean and tastefully decorated, and breakfast was fresh and plentiful.

Since it was October, there wasn’t much happening in the area. We were only passing through and spent one night here. The lake-view room was lovely and spacious, and the bathroom was spacious too. We had an excellent dinner at the adjoining restaurant, and the friendly Georgium owner also made us a superb breakfast.

The Georgium is easy to recommend. We and our dog were made to feel very welcome, and the hospitality and rooms are both excellent. Breakfast was varied and delicious. If you’re into interior design, you’ll love it here: a beautiful design concept paired with great food, simply top-notch!
