Hotel Bergland

We stayed here with a travel agency and had a superb time. The staff were really nice, the rooms clean and spacious, and breakfast was an all-you-can-eat buffet. Dinner came in four courses. The only downside is that there aren’t any grocery stores nearby.

We found The Bergland Hotel while planning a month-long tour of the Austrian Tirol Alps. The valley’s hiking was outstanding, and we highly recommend the area. The fifth-generation family managing the hotel has plenty of stories and offers gracious hospitality. Meals were generous and delicious, beautifully presented, and we made new friends. Our room was clean and thoughtfully appointed. We hope to return!

The location makes it easy to get to the glacier, the lake and lots of walking trails, and the hotel includes a summer card with many benefits in the price. The building has a lovely, almost fairytale feel, with carefully chosen decorations, plenty of hearts, old furniture and tools, and a sauna that keeps its traditional style. Modern bathrooms and the restaurant add a newer touch. Food was outstanding in both quality and variety. Breakfast had fresh-made waffles, seasonal fruit, eggs, juices, local cheese, sweet pastries and several kinds of bread. Dinner was four courses, with a salad buffet that changed daily, soup, dessert and a choice of four mains. The family who own and work at the hotel, along with the dinner waiter, were attentive and very friendly. They seemed to put their hearts into the work. Our room was comfortable and extremely clean, with reading lights, plenty of closet and toilet space, and flowers on the balcony. I liked the refillable shower gel, which avoids plastic, and the glass toilet walls that make the room feel bigger and let in light. The sauna is distinctive, retaining an old-fashioned style and including a Zirben room with the special, healthy Swiss pine fragrance. Parking is free across from the hotel.

Good value and recommended. There’s ski storage, and our queen double room was roomy and clean, with a renovated bathroom. Dinner offered around four or five mains, including one vegetarian option, plus salad buffet, soup and dessert. They take requests for the last dinner course until about 8 PM, so remember this is a laid-back village hotel. Breakfast had a really good range of choices.
