Haus Bäckenbauer

Our apartment in the main house had a fantastic view over the valley and snowy mountains, and plenty of room for our family with two children. There’s guest parking right by the house, and a heated room downstairs for ski boots, with a shed outside for skis. Mornings started with fresh Semmeln delivered in a cloth bag, which we could order ahead. Seeing the sun rise over the slopes made it feel like another great ski day was ahead. Haus Beckenbauer was about a five-minute walk from the Sonnenbahn valley station, though the walk is uphill. We didn’t need the car except to reach one of the many ski areas. We found the accommodation through Google Maps rather than the many websites, and were more than happy with it. A great ski week needs good weather, plenty of snow, suitable accommodation and welcoming hosts, and we had all of that. We felt at home, made new friends, and wholeheartedly recommend it. We’ll definitely come back to Lungau.
