There’s room to work, and the bathrooms are very clean. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Highly recommend it.

We loved the Baumkronenweg, and the owner gave us a card for discounts at local attractions when we arrived. She also gave the kids a good-sized chocolate, which they were thrilled about. I was in Schärding on a business trip with my husband and our two little kids, and we loved staying at StadtHotel. I don’t know much German, but the staff knew enough English for us to communicate. Breakfast was amazing. I don’t eat sugar or wheat, but still found lots of fresh, healthy, delicious choices. The rooms were quiet, and each morning and evening I could hear birds in the square and the church bells. The cleaning staff were friendly, efficient, and hardworking, as was the waitstaff. The hotel feels cozy, with art and plants, and it was very clean, airy, and full of windows and natural light. Parking is quite limited, though there’s a garage an easy walk away. If you leave your car at the hotel, they can valet it late at night or early in the morning. Schärding is easier to get around on foot, and everything’s close enough. We’ll definitely stay here again when we come back.

We arrived at 9 and found out reception had closed at 8, so we were left waiting outside in the cold until a sweet girl came out to give us the keys. The heater didn’t work, the blanket was too short, and the pillows were really uncomfortable. There weren’t any extras, either. An old lady seemed to be the only staff member, and we were the only guests. Her tone was rude and her gestures made us very uncomfortable. The room was clean, which is why I’m giving one star.

The top floor gets really hot in summer, and the rooms feel stuffy. A fan in each room would help a lot. Also, there isn’t enough seating for the fantastic continental breakfast, so arrive early or you may have to wait around standing. It’s a lovely hotel in a wonderful town, and the staff are helpful.
