Karwendel Apartment

The hosts were warm and welcoming, and communication was easy. We found the apartment clean and comfortable, with a really comfortable bed and stylish modern furnishings. Its balcony looks out over the mountains and the place is surrounded by nature. The kitchen has everything we needed, including dishes, a toaster, coffee maker and dishwasher. Excellent value, highly recommended.

The price is reasonable, which is why I’m giving it three stars. The cabin is nicely furnished and has what you need, but sleeping there was difficult. It’s cold, and the electric heaters switched off and didn’t come back on. The bathtub looked nice, though the hot water only filled half of it. Noise was a bigger problem. The wooden cabin isn’t well insulated, so traffic sounds as if a truck is passing right through the room. When neighbors arrived in the middle of the night, we heard them as though they were right there with us. Many windows can’t really be darkened either. The parking spot is awkward, with a 15 cm curb, a fence on one side and stairs on the other. With a larger car, someone would need to guide you, and I’d worry about the tires or rims. I wouldn’t try bringing a sporty car up here.

The open living and dining area made it easy to spend time together, and there’s plenty of work space too. The apartment is beautifully furnished, and the kitchen has everything you need. The double beds were super comfortable, and the bunk bed was fine. With the window open, the gentle sound of the Isar River helped lull us to sleep. The bathroom is large, with a superb walk-in shower. The only small issue was that the pots and pans were a bit small for cooking for six, so they needed washing often.
