Landhaus Hubertus Wellness & Breakfast

The location is really convenient, and we loved having the sauna. Breakfast was the best we’ve had in the area. Our room did turn out smaller than we’d expected.

We stayed in Diana 1 and had a stunning view over the village and mountains. The apartment was modern, complete, and clean, with comfortable beds. The basement sauna was great after a long day skiing in the Schladming mountains. You can get there from the slopes through a tunnel under the road, and there’s a good drying room for ski gear. Breakfast at Landhaus Hubertus was complete, with everything you could want before a day on the slopes. For dinner or a drink, Landhaus Hubertus is part of the opposite Hotel (Erzherzog Johan). The village is a 20-minute walk downhill, and the return takes longer depending on your condition.

We had an awesome three nights, and the friendly staff and clean, well equipped facilities made the stay easy. Our room, 203, had a beautiful mountain view. The breakfast spread was huge, with different breads, milk, jam, sausage, scrambled eggs, and lots more. The Dachstein-Schladming card we got during our stay saved us around 200 EUR on gondola tickets and similar costs, no joke. Dogs are allowed, though not during breakfast. Check-in is in the other building across the road, but that was made clear to us before we arrived. The parking spot is behind the building. I honestly have nothing bad or weird to say. We paid 300 EUR/night and still had to deal with basics like getting just ONE dishwasher tablet for 4 days and finding no capsules for the coffee machine. We had to go back into town to buy them. The reception was usually empty, and we were told to look for staff at another hotel across the street and a little uphill. Even there, it was hard to catch someone at the right time. There was sometimes a sewer smell in the bathroom, which other booking.com reviews mentioned too. The bigger issue was that we chose this place for a ski holiday because booking.com said it was accessible by ski. It wasn't. We had to carry our skis, cross the street through a tunnel in ski boots, climb a dirt slope, then walk at least 150 meters to get to the ski area. They claimed it was 30 meters from the house, though Google Maps shows at least 150 meters as the crow flies, and the walk is longer. Similar places without ski access were much cheaper at the time. We'd also booked a room with a specific feature shown in its photos, but got a different room. When we asked through booking.com to change rooms and pointed out the ski access problem, they refused. That same day, the photo showing the feature disappeared. They also wouldn't compensate us for the inaccurate ski access claim. When we raised problems, they shifted responsibility and told lies. A real disappointment, a rip off.
