That Schweinshaxe was so good it reset my standards for the dish. I’ve tried plenty across the surrounding regions, including some good versions, but this one beat them all. I usually make Schweinshaxe my go-to meal when I travel in Austria or Germany, so I was surprised when it arrived without sauce. One bite made the reason clear: it needed no cover-up at all. A person we met who grew up in Montafon had recommended this place for dinner, and I’m very glad we listened. Mo suggested the strawberry tiramisu, which was just as amazing. We may come back to Montafon and stay here just to eat this food again. If another Schweinshaxe ever tops this one, I’ll gladly admit it, but I’ve had a lot of them.
The restaurant at St. Josefsheim has a stylish feel, with newer renovations and a little touch of the past. We had a really good time there: the meals were delicious and the service was both friendly and great. Honestly, we enjoyed the visit a lot. 5/5.
The service was fantastic, and my beer showed up before she’d even finished taking our order. We spent two nights at the hostel and ate in the restaurant each evening. The goulash and beef in broth with parsley potatoes were both wonderful, while my family ordered schnitzel both nights and loved it. Strudel with ice cream was a big hit too.
The room itself was nice during our four-night stay, but the parking turned into a real hassle. We paid 20 euros for a four-day ticket, went on an excursion on day two, and then couldn't exit the lot on our final day. We had to pay another 24 euros. Calling the number printed on the ticket got us two minutes of a German voice recording before it hung up automatically. There was also loud, deep bass from music at the outdoor restaurant every day from 09.30 to 22.30. We could constantly hear it in our room, and it got pretty annoying. Not a good choice if you like to relax in your room after a long day.
The beds have roomy, thoughtfully designed pods with their own blinds, just like the website shows. We stayed two nights earlier this month and found it amazing value. The kitchen was clean, large, and extremely well stocked, with three big fridges, two ovens, a dishwasher, and more. I’d highly recommend it.
