Sporthotel am Semmering

I booked a single room for a weekend of ski lessons. It was simple and clean, and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly, letting me leave my luggage in the ski room before check-in and after checkout because of my lessons. After a day out, the clean pool and sauna were refreshing. Just ask reception for a bathrobe. I'd certainly come back for another weekend in Semmering.

The dinner on my daughter's birthday was the moment that made the stay unforgettable. The restaurant staff were so warm and friendly, and surprised us with complimentary snacks, champagne, and drinks. They dimmed the lights across the restaurant and brought out a birthday cake. My daughter was thrilled, and it's a moment we'll cherish. Before arriving, I had only left a message saying we'd be celebrating her birthday. I wasn't expecting much, but at check-in we found a huge fruit platter and a lovely birthday card in our room. I can't thank Sporthotel am Semmering enough for making her day so special. Thank you to the whole team for such thoughtful, world-class hospitality!

After our ski lessons, with the slopes closing at 4pm, we went back to enjoy the warm sauna and other facilities before dinner. Everything felt seamless and very enjoyable. Our two-person balcony room had a view we chose it for, and it absolutely delivered. We stayed from 18 to 19 Jan and had an amazing time. We chose Sporthotel's half-board package for an easy trip, which included a shuttle to and from the train station, a four-course dinner, and breakfast. Arriving in the coldest winter in Jan, we couldn't imagine hauling luggage uphill or looking for meals in the cold, so the package was perfect. Shuttles between the hotel and ski resorts were included during our stay too, so remember to ask reception to arrange one. All the staff were warm, helpful, and friendly. Even when busy, they treated each guest patiently, politely, and with care. The team was professional, especially the ladies at reception and the restaurant manager, who I think was working two shifts since we saw him at dinner until late and again at early breakfast.

The scrambled eggs and coffee were excellent, and being close to the ski lift with a 50% discount on the ski pass was a real benefit. The hotel itself feels very old-fashioned and needs renovation. The website photos look much better than the place in person. We were disappointed by the wellness area too. It smelled unpleasant, so we stayed only briefly and didn't go back.
