Alpenhotel Laurin

We just had our second stay at Alpenhotel Laurin in Hochgurgl, and the whole team once again made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Everyone was friendly, professional, and caring throughout. We couldn't be happier with our stay. Thanks to all the staff for creating such a lovely atmosphere. We can't wait to come back.

We especially loved the restaurant, with its fantastic mountain views and delicious food. The chef deserves a thank you! The hotel's location was also so convenient, just a five-minute walk to the lifts, ski hire, and ski pass station. The staff were friendly and polite from the moment we arrived, and the whole place was run efficiently. Our room was cozy, very clean, and comfortable, with lots of storage for ski equipment and clothes. We had a fantastic stay at Alpenhotel Laurin and can't wait to return. Highly recommend it for a ski holiday.

The property looked much nicer in the photos than it felt in person. Although the rooms had been renovated, they were missing basic comforts. I travel often for work, and the checkout left me especially disappointed. The receptionist was curt and confrontational about the cash-only rule for extras under 50 euros. No one had mentioned this at booking or check-in, and it made little sense when guests may already have prepaid their rooms. I'd been travelling through several countries without cash. At first it seemed to be a serious problem, though the charge was eventually put through on my card after the receptionist lectured me for travelling without cash. The exchange was needlessly confrontational and spoiled my last day. I don't usually write reviews because most places have helpful staff and give good service. There are plenty of great places to choose from in the Alps, and most have friendly, helpful staff. Until this hotel gives its front-line team better training, I'd look elsewhere for a relaxing Alpine stay. In response to the hotel's feedback: I didn't bring this up at the time because I was tired from travelling and generally avoid confrontation. I just don't return to places that don't meet expectations. Given what happened, I felt other guests should know, as it spoiled what had otherwise been an excellent trip. There were other issues I hadn't included at first. My so-called mountain-view room faced a white wall and the car park entrance. I was also charged half board for two people even though I was travelling alone, which you acknowledged at check-in. Most hotels would fix a billing mistake once they noticed it, particularly since Expedia defaults to two guests. Reading your replies to other reviews, it seems you dismiss customers' concerns and deflect responsibility when they offer constructive feedback. Several reviews mention problems with the same staff member, but that feedback appears to be ignored. I hope you take a real look at what guests are saying and consider changing your approach to service. Perhaps that could make things better for future visitors.

I've stayed in places around the world, and this establishment ranks among the best for its cost, facilities, owners, and staff. Just below the peak of Timmelsjoch, it welcomed me warmly and even has indoor motorcycle parking. The wellness area is amazing, and I'll definitely return. I'd give more than five stars if I could. I can't see why any traveller, especially a motorcyclist, wouldn't stay here.
