The worst part of our stay happened at the spa. My fiancé left his phone with the Chinese operator in the massage area, who saw us go in. At 8 pm she closed her section without telling the spa team the phone needed to be returned, and locked the service door that was the only way to reach the fourth-floor rooms. We were stuck in that part of the building, unable to get back to our room and without the phone. Spa staff eventually helped find it at reception, where the operator had left it without telling anyone, and opened the corridor for us. There were problems from the moment we arrived. There was no valet parking, and the porter handling our bags had strong body odor, spoke no English, and seemed distracted. He was careless with our belongings, so I had to tell him to be careful. At check-in, the clerk asked why we were staying just one night and suggested extending the visit before we’d even seen the room. I found that intrusive and premature. The room was ordinary for a five-star hotel, and our electronic keys stopped working twice, sending us back to reception to reactivate them. There was body wash, conditioner, and lotion, but no shampoo. With this many service failures, the stay did not feel like a five-star experience.

The family suite had plenty of room for the four of us, and the hotel has lovely wellness and sports facilities. There’s an adults-only area on level -1, a family wellness area on the first floor, and a rooftop wellness space with an outdoor pool. Breakfast was varied and really tasty. Dinner changed themes during the week and had plenty of choice, though the salad buffet could sometimes be very limited, especially for vegetarians. We also missed having quick snacks included between 3 and 5 pm. A great hotel, though on the pricey side.

The food was very tasty, and we had a good stay overall, but the hotel feels like it may have been a top five-star place ten years ago. The adult area is dated and down in the basement, and the rooms were too hot. Communication was only so-so too, since we still didn’t know whether the private instructor was booked until the final date. I’d have preferred paying another 20 euros on the room instead of being charged 7 euros for water. Good experience, just not perfect.

Dinner was a real treat, with a great choice of appetizers and cheese. The whole stay felt like pure luxury, and we were pampered in the best way.
