Hohenfels

The location is the big draw at Frühstückspension Hohenfels: about 100m to the cable car, with the bus stop right outside. Ski-in/Ski-out access is fantastic, through a separate entrance with no stairs. Check-in and check-out were quick and simple, and there was plenty of free uncovered parking on site. The cleanliness was spotless. The place feels familiar and welcoming, the staff were friendly, especially at breakfast, and the fresh scrambled eggs were tasty. Breakfast was sufficient for a day on the slopes. For Obergurgl, the price-performance ratio is okay. There are some details that kept it from being five stars. My single room was spacious, but the bed was very small and narrow. Taller or larger people should book a double bed or room. The furniture is dated and shows its age. The walls are thin, so I could hear my neighbor talking on the phone for hours, which was disturbing. The bath towels were thin and disappointingly small, honestly smaller than my hand towel at home. The elevator can be slow, and although there's a ski room, it has no lockers or shelves, boot dryer, or proper gear storage. Even with the small bed and towel issue, the convenient location and friendly service make me glad to come back.
