Liebe Sonne

The food was a real highlight. The chef's daily three-course dinners were fantastic, and the light board served from 3 to 4pm was a nice extra. Breakfast was available every day too. The bar has a limited cocktail selection, but it does the job. The spa and pools are on the fourth floor, along with a gym and a quiet room. The ski lockers are outside, clean, and convenient. Most of the staff were kind and professional, and we enjoyed talking with nearly all of them. Our waitress at dinner and the barista were especially helpful and kind. Kudos to the chef for the creativity. I chose this town for a seven-day snowboarding trip at Sölden, recently added under EpicPass, and wanted somewhere close to the gondola with covered parking for a rental car and spacious rooms. We booked a Junior Suit, which was large, modern looking, and reasonably priced. If I come back to Sölden to ski, I'd most likely stay at Liebe Sonne again. A couple of things could have made the stay better. The room thermostat wouldn't go below 19C, and even at that setting the room got too hot for comfortable sleep. I couldn't figure out where the heat came from, since there was no vent or baseboards. I kept waking up to open the window for cold air, but Fire On Ice across the street played loud music until it closed at 3am, so leaving the window open let the noise in. The wooden platform under our king bed also wasn't set up well. One person at the front desk didn't know much about local attractions or places to visit. When we asked for suggestions or help, she said she didn't know or told us to read books or search online ourselves. That defeats the purpose of a concierge. Anyone can google, and hotel desk staff should be trained to share local knowledge, or at least be willing to offer it. We had seven dry days, so I wish the snowfall had been better.
