Sporthotel Olymp

Claudia went out of her way to help after I accidentally left my Bluetooth in the room after checking out. She arranged to have it delivered to my home overseas, and I really appreciated her help through the whole process. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Hochgurgl. I spent five nights at Sporthotel Olymp and enjoyed it a lot. The room was spacious, clean, and tidy, with daily housekeeping done really well. It was set up just right for a ski holiday, including a big wardrobe for gear and a sauna in the bathroom that felt great after a long day on the slopes. Breakfast and dinner were both nice and delicious, and the service was excellent.

My family has been skiing in Hochgurgel for over 20 years, and I’ve been coming since I was a child. This hotel and especially its team are a great place to enjoy a winter holiday, even if you’re not that keen on winter sports. On a day when you want to stay in during ski season, the cuisine and spa offerings are there for you. The service is high quality, and the atmosphere feels familiar and comfortable. It’s the kind of experience you want to repeat every year.

This is about Toni's Almhütte, not the hotel. I used to recommend this place to everyone for lunch on a ski day. From 2016 to 2018, the food was good, the service was friendly and great, and there was a sunny terrace. In 2019 they began removing dishes from the menu, and those hadn't returned by 2020, though the staff were still friendly and we could eat on a senna terrace. In 2022, I was shocked by how we were treated as people who weren't hotel guests. We weren't allowed to sit on the terrace, even though it was half empty, because it was reserved for hotel guests without any specific details given. The menu had been cut to an absolute minimum. If you took a little while to decide, they looked at you badly. Once lunch arrived, it felt like we had to eat within 10 minutes to make room for their hotel guests. The food is still okay, but the other parts of the experience that used to make this a lovely lunch spot have been taken away. I’m disappointed by how much it has changed, and can now only give it three stars for food that used to be great. I hope they go back to how things were, or keep the good parts and get rid of the bad ones.

We had lunch at the terrace restaurant at Top Hotel Hochgurgl, right beside the ski slope. The lobster soup and drinks were fantastic, as were the service and food quality. It’s certainly not cheap, but I’d recommend it. You can also book a fondue evening in advance.
