Really cool.

We had a hard time getting answers: messages through Booking.com and email went unanswered, and we only got a response by calling. The owner also kept blaming others, which I found especially irritating. We were told nobody had complained about the cold before, but that isn't true according to Google reviews, and it's not a good way to talk to guests. We stayed the first weekend in October and saw another apartment was occupied. The owner didn't seem to consider that the house might feel colder at the start of the heating season than in winter, when the building is full and all the apartments are heated alike. The heating runs only during certain hours set centrally, so our first night was very cold, with the room at 20 degrees Celsius. We were told on the phone this policy applies to the apartments, but not the owner's hotel. There were practical issues too. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, the freezer compartment was broken when we arrived, and the bathroom door wouldn't lock. The small cooktop only worked with certain pans and pots, so meals we'd planned had to be cooked in stages. The underground garage is accessed by lift, and both the lift and garage take a lot of maneuvering. Only very small cars can use the lift, and parking there takes considerable skill.

We had two apartments connected by a hallway, which made it easy to go between them without running into other guests. The apartments themselves were luxurious, with a separate bedroom, kitchen, living room, and balcony. Being able to use the facilities at two other Regina hotels in Solden, about a five-minute drive away, was a real plus. One has an outdoor pool, while the other offers an indoor pool and a very large sauna complex. We were bothered by smoke smells left by previous guests. After we mentioned it, the cleaning lady came to check whether anything could be done. Parking was the main hassle. There are three spaces by the building, but they fill quickly, and there isn't anywhere else close by. Luckily, you can park under the building, though getting in takes some maneuvering. It's best to reverse into the outside lift, since there's a sharp turn right after you go down. Highly recommended.

The apartment was clean and pleasant, with a lovely view over the river. It has a large garage reached by elevator, though the kitchen in our unit had no window. We really enjoyed being able to use the spa at Hotel Regina. For anyone visiting in summer, I recommend getting the Oztal Card for its many free benefits. We'll definitely return!
