Tyrolerhof

We had a pleasant stay, and the wellness area was a nice feature, with a pool plus several saunas and steam baths. There wasn’t a spa, though, despite it being advertised.

The food made a big impression on us, from the excellent quality and variety to the different dessert buffet each evening. The kitchen team was professional and happy to answer questions, and they had our particular tastes and needs in mind. We visited Tyrolerhof at the end of January and really enjoyed it. You can tell the owners put thought and effort into making the hotel welcoming. Sölden’s center can be noisy, but the extra soundproofing in the rooms meant we slept without any trouble. There are textile and non-textile sauna areas, too. Even months later, we still remember the stay fondly.

Dinner was the highlight. There was a generous buffet of salads, soups and seafood or meat starters, then a choice of roasted meats, casseroles, fish or vegetarian dishes. The homemade desserts included plenty of local specialties, and there was a good cheese selection as well. Daniel looked after us in the restaurant, always friendly and welcoming, and helped us pick local wines. Hotel Tyrolerhof is family run and was one of the best places we’ve stayed for a ski holiday. Our bedroom was spacious and had modern comforts. The bar had an authentic feel, with comfortable sofas and armchairs for a drink or coffee before or after dinner, or a chat with other guests. There’s a spa area with saunas, steam rooms and a modern pool. Grizzly Sports is next door for ski hire, and we could leave our skis there overnight at no extra charge. The cable car to the slopes is less than a five-minute walk away. I’d happily recommend the hotel. Thank you, Hotel Tyrolerhof.

The Ötztal public transport was very useful for getting around, with reliable buses that worked well for our group, including an elderly person in a wheelchair. At Hotel Tyrolerhof, Karin was already helping us before we arrived. Her quick, friendly and professional support made everything feel easy, and the breakfast and dinner staff were kind and hardworking too. The rooms were decent, though a little expensive for just two nights. That didn’t spoil the pleasure of my first trip to see snow.
