Café Rainer

The cake arrived at the table with its plastic still on, and the cappuccino was cold. They only take cash, too. If poor service is what you’re after, this is the place.

The cakes were delicious, but the visit was confusing. The younger male waiter was rude and wouldn’t explain how things worked, even when we asked. He brought our coffees while we were still choosing cake, then took so long to serve the cake that the drinks had gone cold. We saw other customers looking just as confused and unhappy.

We stopped for a quick coffee and something to eat with friends. The waiter was brusque, got my drink wrong, and blamed the machine when one coffee came out cold. The portions were very small, and when my friend tried to tell the staff how rude he’d been, there was no apology. They only accept cash. I wonder why. There are much nicer places in the resort, so avoid this one.

The cakes are delicious, and the food in the cafe was very good. Staff were helpful and kept us laughing, and the different ice cream desserts were fabulous. It’s right in the centre of Sankt Johann. We’re staying in the apartments, which are spacious and have everything you need: a lounge and dining area, kitchen, bathroom, toilet, and a main bedroom with a very comfortable bed. I’d happily recommend both staying here and eating in the cafe.
