The rooms are nicely furnished and clean, though the old tube TVs feel dated. The hotel also has a garden terrace with places to sit and things for children to play on, plus bike rental. Food was very good, generous and varied, and there was always a vegetarian option. The manager is friendly and personally looks after guests, and the rest of the hotel staff are just as kind and attentive. I’d recommend it.

We’ve now been to Bier Peter seven times, and this was our first visit since the change in management. Felix, the manager, did everything he could to make our stay enjoyable, and we really appreciated it. The lakeside resort still comes with free entry, which was great, and we also enjoyed the fish pond. The food was almost too good. All in all, it felt like a lot of holiday for not much money.

We stayed in February and won’t be back. Room #26 was clean, but the shower was terrible. The curtain kept blowing against our backs, and because it was too short, water flooded the room after every shower. The meals were just as disappointing. Over four days, we never got a fresh bread roll, only reheated ones. Toast was left on the table in its packaging, and it felt like every meal came straight from the freezer. The only staff who were friendly were the waiters and cleaning staff. When a guest asked the owner what the weather might be, she replied, “I'm not St. Peter.” That tells you enough.

It’s handy for getting to the motorway, so places nearby are easy to reach whether you’re going hiking, swimming or to a museum. The hotel is centrally located, and the lake is only a short walk away. There’s playground equipment in the garden, the food is good and the staff are friendly. A good choice for families.
