The hygiene was disappointing too: there was a mouse in the kitchen, and we found an old scouring pad under the sofa. When we raised the missing room with the owner, he brushed us off, saying there were “financial circumstances” that meant he couldn't provide the fourth room we'd paid for. He came across as arrogant and unfriendly. At check-out, he drove away instead of discussing compensation for the trouble. We had been looking forward to a cozy farmhouse holiday, but only three of the four booked and paid-for rooms were available. I ended up sleeping on a mattress on the hallway floor. It was awful. Other people in our group resorted to peeing in bottles because they didn't want to wake me by walking past. Definitely not recommended.

From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and at ease. The whole family is wonderful, so hospitable, considerate, and lovely. I'd absolutely recommend staying here.

We arrived and found that we had only three bedrooms and two bathrooms, despite paying for four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The owner replied, “Better luck next time.” When we tried to complain as we left, he took off, so we had to explain the situation to his sweet elderly parents, who had nothing to do with it.
