We only went to the restaurant, not the hotel, but the meal was delicious and the views were lovely. The service was great too. We tried a couple of the new dishes, Kaiserschmarrn and Swiss Wurst Salat, and both were amazing with really generous portions. We’ll definitely come back.

My grandson and I have stayed here four times now, and this was easily our best visit. The hotel is right by the piste, the staff are so friendly and helpful, and we ate really well. Highly recommend it.

The location of Schlickalm is ideal for the mountains, but our stay was so uncomfortable that we wouldn't return. We’re a middle-aged couple who arrived on foot from a mountain hut before 12:00. Since Sabrina was still in the valley, we ate on the terrace and left my email address so she could let us know if our room might be ready before 15:00. Later, as she was cleaning windows, Sabrina told us check-in was only from 15:00, citing Booking.com even though I’d booked directly through their site. I couldn’t find check-in information there. She also said the single chambermaid couldn’t finish earlier. We were staying four nights, the hotel wasn’t full, and in my experience a room can often be ready early, but an earlier check-in was ruled out. We waited nearby for three hours, luckily in good weather. We were apparently assigned room 109 after my request didn’t go down well. It was the worst room: terrace music, noisy neighbors, and a washing machine in the adjoining room running from 6:00 until after 22:00. Earplugs helped. There was a dirty carpet (photo), a tap I couldn’t open with my left hand, cooking smells from a nearby kitchen extractor (see photo), and cigarette smoke in the room. I never got an answer about changing rooms for an extra fee. During our four days, the room wasn’t cleaned and the towels weren’t changed. The informal setup also felt unprofessional. The house dog, Baron, is always walking through the restaurant, and Sabrina, the owner and manager, helps serve in sportswear. Room keys hang on a board anyone can reach, which is convenient but didn’t feel safe. The Stubaicard was printed so faintly that I raised it with Sabrina. She said the QR code would always work, but it didn’t. The printer needs replacing. Dinner didn’t feel like a full meal because there were hardly any vegetables. Once, the fish wasn’t cooked through; it came back fried, with no apology. WiFi was very limited. We come to the mountains for peace and fresh air. Schlickalm has the right location, but after this experience it’s out of the question for us.

We spent Christmas here and even made the tree together with the other guests, which was a lovely moment. The staff were very friendly, and there was a playground packed with activities for the kids. Our room was cleaned daily, and the food was fresh, tasty, and plentiful. You can go straight from bed to the ski stations. I’d recommend adding an information point about the area and things to do.

Summer lunch here was a letdown. The food felt expensive for what we got, and service took ages despite the staff literally running around. We waited an hour for the Spinatknödel advertised at the entrance, and it turned out to be one small ball with a little veg. We’d pick another Alm next time. After the response: we asked for the “Spinatknödel that is mentioned on the blackboard at the entrance,” and the waiter confidently nodded. I’m still not sure what we were served.
