Hotel an der Wien

There’s free parking, and the hotel sits near a bus stop, metro, and train station, giving you several ways to travel to the hotel or into the city center. The place has an old high-class feel from the '80s, and its age is beginning to show. You can hear the nearby train track a little, depending on how sensitive you are to the sound. Breakfast is okay, with little variety apart from the sweet items, which change daily.

The family-run hotel is spotless, with simply but tastefully furnished rooms and a lavish breakfast. It’s right by Hütteldorf train station and at the end of the U4 subway, at the entrance to the Wienerwald. There are excellent places to eat and drink nearby. Two very small complaints: if you’ve paid in advance, keep your receipt on your phone, because the front desk doesn’t track payments very well. Also, the soft-cooked eggs are a bit overcooked. I’ve encountered that in all European accommodations, so I wonder if EU rules are behind it. The same goes for the disappearance of “resche Semmeln”.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. We arrived about an hour early, and she let us into the room without any trouble. The room was adequate and the bed comfortable, while breakfast offered a good selection. There are around 12 parking spaces at the hotel. Hotel An der Wien is in a great spot: about a five-minute walk to the station, then a 15-minute Ubahn ride to the center. I highly recommend it.

Parking is free and on sight, and the hotel is near the metro. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was great. The place has a beautiful retro charm and felt like a four-star stay.
