Austria Trend Hotel Maximilian

The room was roomy and very clean, with a balcony looking onto the garden and heating that worked perfectly in the cold weather. Check-in was easy, and the staff were friendly, especially Vladimir. We stayed October 5-8 in a quiet neighborhood near Schönbrunn Palace, with tram and taxi stops close by. Plachutta and Dommayer were great restaurant options nearby, and the price felt absolutely worth it.

The way the receptionist responded at checkout left a terrible impression. I explained that housekeeping had tried to enter twice, but he showed no concern, suggested I should have put the sign up sooner, ignored that it was hanging on the door the second time, and didn't even apologize while I was visibly upset. A simple apology would have helped. Accidents happen, but the lack of empathy and accountability made this much worse. I was in town for a nearby conference and stayed October 23-25. On Saturday I hoped to sleep in, but at 8:30 a housekeeper knocked once and immediately started coming into the room. I then put up the “Do Not Disturb” sign. My checkout was noon, yet at 11:30 another housekeeper knocked and tried to enter despite the sign. I was standing there in my underwear, which was incredibly disturbing and embarrassing.

Anna Maria at Reception deserves a huge shout out, she was so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was great, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and had a great shower. There were just a few minor cleaning issues that let things down a little.

We had a very pleasant three-night stay, much better than I expected. The room looked just like the photos, and was modern, spacious, and clean. There's also a gym and sauna downstairs, which we didn't try but it was nice knowing they were there.
