Carlton Opera

We were happy with the service, and the staff were genuinely nice and polite. The apartments are huge and come well equipped, and breakfast was really good too. Most of the famous sights are close enough to reach on foot. For what we paid, it felt like good value.

The location is the best part, close to Naschmarkt and about a 15-minute walk from the Museum Quarter. The nearest underground station is around 400 metres away. We stayed in one of the apartments attached to the hotel. It was clean and spacious, though a little worn. Breakfast was a good buffet and included in the price, and there was free WiFi. Reception were courteous and helpful.

The opera house and Naschmarkt were both an easy walk away, with restaurants and supermarkets all around. Underground parking was nearby, and the hotel helped arrange it. We stayed in an apartment around the corner, managed by the hotel, and had breakfast at the hotel. Ours was enormous, though I gather the apartments may all be different. There were two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a dressing area, a foyer, a full kitchen and a large living room, plus storage closets. The layout was so spread out that we sometimes had to call out to find the kids. We had a washing machine and drying rack, and plenty of room to do laundry. Nothing was new, but it was clean. A family could be quite comfortable here for a long stay.

This is about the apartments, not the hotel rooms. We only stayed a couple of nights. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was cheap for such a central area. The apartment was large but very old, dark, and in poor shape. There were holes in the floor hidden under an ancient carpet, and walking in gave the impression the place was falling apart.
