CheckVienna - Apartment Wichtelgasse

The apartment felt neglected and poorly looked after, and it fell well short of what was advertised. Dirt and visible stains on the walls and in the corners made it seem as if it hadn’t been properly cleaned before we arrived. Basic hygiene should be a minimum for a rental, but that wasn’t the case here. This was a very disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting clean, comfortable accommodation in Vienna.

Getting the keys was quick and easy. That was about the only good part of the stay. The apartment needs renovating, and the furniture and fittings need replacing. The bed looks good in photos, but the mattresses are badly worn and deeply indented. The pillows are so thin they’re almost not there. The kitchen is dated, and even touching the grimy cabinet handles was unpleasant. I don’t want to get into the state of the appliances, cutlery, and dishes. The floors are mostly ruined, the bathroom tiles are broken, and the shower cubicle sticks when you open or close it. The bathroom wasn’t very clean either, with long black hairs left by previous occupants. The place heats up quickly, so we had to use the fan or keep the window open all night. The street is too noisy for that to be a good option. I can’t see a reason to rate this apartment higher. Something needs to be done.

The apartment has the basics you need, including an iron, hairdryer, coffee maker, and kitchenette. There are supermarkets nearby and good public transport connections. I recommend it.

Furnished in a nice, practical way, and the location is fairly quiet. There’s also a public transport stop very close by.
