DO & CO Hotel Vienna

The air conditioning in our deluxe suite wasn't working from check-in, and no one had told us. They couldn't give us the room change we asked for, so we were given access to a smaller adjoining room instead. It was awkward, especially with the temperature at 30 degrees Celsius in September. A dismal stay. They also wouldn't print the final bill, for reasons I don't know. I had to read it on their laptop. The hotel didn't seem able to meet the demands of a full-fledged hotel. Thankfully, my later stay at Park Hyatt Vienna was much more comfortable.

We only stopped by for a drink at the bar, not an overnight stay, and it was such a good experience. The staff were friendly, the wines were good quality, and the view was amazing. I'd happily recommend it! 🩷

Our anniversary reservation had been made months ahead, and we'd saved up for it, but when we arrived for check-in on 12/2, we were told a maintenance problem meant our room wasn't available. They said we'd been moved to another hotel. Though they covered dinner and a taxi, it was a 14-minute walk away, not the 7 minutes they said. That mattered because we'd picked this hotel for its location and I'd had multiple leg surgeries this year. They described the replacement as more luxurious, but our room was almost below ground level despite paying for a deluxe city view. We gave up cathedral views for gravel. We called the hotel and our credit card company, got put on hold, and gave up around midnight after being promised a callback. None came. After 24 hours with no response, we worked with the new hotel's staff ourselves, and they upgraded us at their own expense. Even on the new floor, the view was of a hockey rink. We're still 15 minutes outside the central location we booked, with no view, and have paid extra for transport on top of the astronomical price for cathedral views. I would normally feel bad about a maintenance issue, but this was a terrible way to treat displaced guests paying thousands of dollars.

Nico at reception made the stay special. He was kind, so helpful, and greeted us with a smile every time. He went out of his way to make sure things were right for us. Thanks for your hospitality, Nico. The rooms were clean and modern, with lovely design and a great view, and the location puts you right in the city center with everything walkable. I had a wonderful stay at DO & CO Hotel, would definitely return, and highly recommend it.
