Hotel Imlauer Wien

The room was beautiful, spacious, well kept, and especially warm, which we appreciated in winter. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and the location made getting around very easy: close to the metro and within easy reach of the city center. We stayed four days and had a very positive experience. The breakfast buffet had a good range of savory food, but only 2-3 sweet choices. At €26 per person, we thought the value could be better. Even so, we'd definitely recommend the hotel for its comfort, service and location.

Getting to the city center took around 15 minutes on foot, and the metro was about a 10-minute walk away, with access to the central line. The location was reasonably good. Our stay started badly because the first room had a very strong, unpleasant smell that didn't seem right. We made a formal complaint but were still expected to sleep there that night. From a health and safety perspective, that was unacceptable. The staff showed little concern on our first night and seemed to brush the issue aside, which I made clear at reception. Nobody checked on us or offered a suitable immediate solution. I'd give that service a 2, and the first room a 1. The next morning, the woman from reservations was extremely kind and helpful, and handled things much better. As an individual, she deserves a higher rating, but this review is about the whole stay, so one good interaction can't lift the overall score. We were moved to a different room, which was good, around a 3 to 3.5. The rest of the stay was fine, mostly because no more problems came up, rather than because service was exceptional. Given the whole experience, I can't rate the hotel above 3 stars, and even that feels generous.

The large rooms had everything we needed, and the building itself is beautiful. Staff were super helpful, and the location was great, with a short walk to the center or easy access to the metro. We had a lovely stay at the Imlaurer hotel in Vienna. Breakfast felt overpriced for what it was, and some of the breakfast staff weren't especially friendly, but that aside, we really enjoyed our stay.

We loved the sauna area. It felt modern and brand new, and was a great perk on a winter trip. Just remember to ask reception for the spa towels, flip-flops and bathrobe, since those aren't kept in the room by default. We had to request them there. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed, with a soft, comfortable mattress. It faced the main street, and people could see in through the street-level window, but we didn't hear any noise. The hotel is far from the city center, so we needed to take one metro line each time. There are two large supermarkets directly across the street, handy for groceries and local food. Reception staff were averagely friendly, around the local standard. The lobby had a large Christmas tree, and we used the luggage storage room on our first and last days. We didn't eat breakfast, though we saw plenty of guests having it. I wouldn't choose this hotel again because it's far from the center and main tourist areas.
