KH Opera Apartments

We had apartment 10 on the first floor, with one bedroom and a double bed on a raised platform. The accommodation was basic but clean, and the location was fantastic. There are 12 apartments on that floor, and the SASS nightclub entrance is next to the building entrance, so you're above a club. Noise usually carries from 11pm until 5am, and on Sunday it lasted until 10am. We had earplugs, which helped, but some noise still came through. I'd recommend it for a night or two midweek, but avoid weekends.

Every one of our three nights was interrupted by shouting outside. The apartments are directly above a nightclub, and people who seemed intoxicated gathered outside the decorative windows, which do nothing to block sound. The club's beat made the bed vibrate. When we checked out at 10am on Sunday, the club was still open, people were drunk in the apartment building, and the music was still going. The photos looked good, but there was no warning about the incredible noise all night. I can't believe it's legal in Austria to have residential apartments above a club, especially since the club was already there when these apartments were created. Maybe some apartments are quieter, I don't know. The host just said they couldn't do anything about the noise.

The place is clean and modern, but the windows look onto walls and pipes, with no view. There’s no air conditioning, just fans, so it might be uncomfortable in summer if you like a cooler room.

Communication was good, and check-in and check-out went smoothly. The location is excellent. I'll definitely use it again when I'm in Vienna.
