Mandarin Oriental, Vienna

The way my wife’s birthday was handled made us feel part of the Mandarin family. The Concierges helped stage the occasion, with more than 50 personal congratulations and handwritten cards. Special thanks to Rooms Division Manager Mr. Kai Winklhofer for the world-class decisions. Eight days before arrival, both a generous upgrade and late check-out until 8:15 PM were guaranteed, which gave us a remarkable level of planning security. We stayed in Top-Floor Suite 434, as requested, and the space was ideally divided. Goddard Littlefair’s interior design is a masterpiece, and the wellness area, with its indoor pool, sauna, steam bath, and relaxation beds, sets a new standard for me. As an ultra-luxury traveler and Level 8 Google Maps Local Guide with over 251 million views, I had very high expectations for Mandarin Oriental, Vienna. Under GM Mario Habicher’s visionary leadership, the stay surpassed even my boldest imaginings. It felt like masterfully orchestrated hospitality. For me, future trips to Vienna will be exclusively linked to the M.O. Vienna. If you want to feel luxury, this house is a must, and a highlight of our travels that has reset my global standards.

The location made it easy to explore Vienna, and we’d absolutely return. The porters were especially lovely, professional, and helpful, always smiling, assisting with luggage, and sharing local advice. From thoughtful housekeeping touches in the room to the consistently friendly, attentive staff throughout, the personal service really stood out. Our stay at Mandarin Oriental Vienna was exceptional from beginning to end, with warm hospitality from everyone. Highly recommended. 🤍

We felt at home here, which is the best feeling you can have in a hotel. It was a great stay, and we’ll definitely come back. Special thanks to Alexsandra and Moritz at the front desk, and Rudolf the concierge, who were all lovely and kind. The hotel had opened just 1-2 months earlier. The rooms were cozy and beautifully decorated, the staff were very friendly, and the restaurant was gorgeous. The location was great too, just a few minutes’ walk from the main street downtown.

Breakfast felt like a missed opportunity. For a city with world-class pastries and so many local cheeses and charcuterie available just two blocks away at Billa, the hotel’s offering was limited, generic, and uninspired. Our service was mixed, though I appreciate Alexandra, the assistant manager, addressing the issue, and guest relations trying to improve our experience. We were there as a family for three nights and had a minor problem with the thermostat. It wasn’t fixed promptly and took four phone calls and several conversations to sort out. Then a man from “engineering” entered abruptly at 8:30pm without knocking, which was absolutely not OK. It’s a new hotel, and some things are still a work in progress. There’s a nice pool with sauna and steam room, but we were told children couldn’t use the pool after 4pm, and I didn’t see that rule posted anywhere.
