myNext - Hotel Rudy

The location was great: two minutes from the U1 train, which takes you into the city, and you can also walk to the city or Vienna main train station. My twin room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the toilet and shower worked. It was quiet, with windows that open, and a heater for winter and fan for summer. I got to check in early and had a comfortable night, with helpful staff and good value for the price. Free luggage storage for the day was useful. Hot water is available only in the lobby. The key has to be shared between two people, and late checkout costs 7 euro per hour. 100% recommend.

I was very happy with my stay at Hotel Rudy, and I'm not sure why its rating is low. It's affordable and had everything I needed. The rooms were spacious, clean, and modern, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great, only a few meters from the Central Station, with an exit near the hotel. When coming through the underground passage from Central Station, use the accessible U1 Sudtiroler Platz exit. The area felt safe even at night. My room didn't have a TV, but that was totally fine.

It's handy for the railway station and somewhere to sleep, and the poor lighting in the room makes the two star rating feel deserved. The staff didn't seem focused on guests, like it was just a job. After I returned tired from a long day, I got no greeting, just a blank look. At breakfast, the receptionist was eating at the desk while the supervisor ran around helping guests and collecting their vouchers, something the person at the desk could have done. There was also a loose bit of carpet in the corridor that I had to borrow scissors to cut off. Staff should have taken care of it.

It was calm and quiet, a good base for resting after sightseeing around Vienna. Schloss Belvedere and its gardens are about a five-minute walk away, and Vienna Main Train Station takes only 5-7 minutes on foot, with U1 and trams nearby. Belvedere and the transit links were great to have close by. Other sights, such as Stephansplatz / St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the MuseumQuartier, are a bit far and need longer tram or metro rides.
