Hotel Regina

Breakfast was varied, and the dining room was a lovely place to sit. The hotel heating was also a real comfort in the winter cold, especially for us coming from a warmer climate. The location is hard to beat, right by Vienna's Votive Temple, a 15-minute walk from the city center and only three minutes from tram and metro stops. It has a Viennese style, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We’d requested a room with particular features for a personal reason. The first room wasn’t what we’d asked for, but they acted quickly and moved us to one that met our needs and even exceeded our expectations. I’ll stay here again when I return to Vienna.

I really enjoyed the elegant, historic European feel of Hotel Regina during my three-day stay. Everyone on staff was kind and helpful. When I was feeling unwell, Harald kindly moved me to a room by the window, and Valeriia at reception handled all my requests so warmly. Those thoughtful gestures made me feel very comfortable. And I have to mention breakfast coffee: it was the best drip coffee I’ve had in Europe. If I’m back in Vienna, I’ll definitely return. Thank you for everything!

We had such a lovely stay. The hotel was dressed up for Christmas inside and out, and the staff looked very smart and were helpful. Breakfast and Roth restaurant were both excellent, and most of the staff speak English. The location worked really well for the city center and Christmas markets. Thank you!

Hotel “Regina” has a long history and an excellent location, but our experience was let down by very poor management and service. We paid €1,513 for the room after booking through Booking for two adults and two children. The reservation clearly listed our family, but after checking it the hotel said the children were not included and charged an extra €35 per child per night, €210 for three nights. We paid it. The problem wasn’t the amount, but that the final room price stayed the same whether the children were included or not. At arrival, we asked reception for help with our luggage and were told there was no bellboy. We carried it ourselves, which felt unacceptable for a four-star hotel. When we left, though, we saw a bellboy helping guests arriving from the airport. It didn’t feel like everyone was treated equally. We were given a Christmas dinner brochure at check-in. About half an hour later I asked at reception about the menu and joining, but was told there were no places left. I suppose we were just unlucky. I also tried to order room service by phone, but neither reception nor the restaurant answered. I went down, and a polite staff member took our order and sent the food to our room. The next day the restaurant was closed for preparations for a festive dinner, and we were refused service. Breakfast was included, but after missing it the first day because we were exhausted from travelling, we couldn’t find a table when we came down with the children the next morning. Half the restaurant had been blocked off for “important guests,” so we left and ate elsewhere. Late at night, after a long day, we ordered takeaway and asked the hotel for some water. Again, no one answered the phone. Around midnight I went to reception and was refused water. They said the restaurant was closed and tap water was safe to drink. At checkout, reception charged us for three minibar items, though we had used more. I asked them to check so we could pay the right amount, but they said there were no extra items because the minibar hadn’t been checked. After leaving the room within the checkout time, how long is a guest supposed to wait for an accurate bill? Our conclusion is that accommodation quality matters even when the location is excellent. We’d choose a five-star hotel, where guests are treated equally and professionally, without discrimination, belittlement, or division based on origin, nationality, or “status.” Racism is unacceptable, punishable, and violates basic human rights.
