Ruby Lissi Hotel Vienna by IHG

After a tiring journey, check-in means standing at a tablet and entering all the details from your reservation again on your own. The room has nowhere to put clothes, just a few wall hooks, so you end up living out of your suitcase on the floor. There's a Marshall guitar amp, though, apparently that's meant to make up for it. To make tea or coffee, you have to go to another floor, where there's a Quooker tap in a grimy, pitch-dark utility closet with instructions to figure out. The shower is in the middle of the room and opens to the toilet through a glass door. Water floods the toilet area after a shower because the enclosure doesn't seal, so you'll need to mop up before using it or wade through. Four-star prices for a below-average hostel.

The rooms were clean and cozy, and the space was used really well. The hotel is close to the city center, with lots to do nearby. I also loved the upstairs bar, a great place to hang out, and the drinks were always served perfectly. The service was above and beyond, with every staff member kind and quick to help. I'd definitely stay here again.

We fell in love with Ruby Lissa. It's such a fun, quirky hotel, and the modern rooms were stocked just right. Both bars had a mix of furniture, so there were comfortable spots for groups, couples, or anyone on their own. Charlie was the highlight of our stay. She's a wonderful cocktail mixologist and went above and beyond to make the best cocktails I've ever had. We enjoyed them so much that we came back both nights.

The lounge has comfortable chairs and interesting historical displays on the walls, and the staff were great. My room had thoughtful modern fixtures, and the hotel bar stays open 24 hours. For Vienna, the price is amazing. They also have electric and acoustic guitars you can borrow for free, with amps in the room. I totally recommend it, 10/10.
